Baron Hasselhoff's single-origin Manabu, Papua New Guinea 70% dark chocolate bar. The first thing you'll notice is the chocolaty aroma. After placing it on the tongue, the texture is smooth, and the melt immediately begins to coat the mouth with flavour. Notes of honey caramel, dark cherry and cinnamon butter come together to make a mouth watering and rich chocolate experience.
The cacao beans from Kingstan Kamuri's Manabu Plantation, near Port Moresby in Central Province, Papua New Guinea, are some of the Pacific's finest. This region grew a large volume of Cacao up until the 1980s when the market in Europe fell away. Now, a large amount of Cacao grows wild in the jungles!
Work has been done to establish plantations for the cultivation of fine flavour cacao, empowering local farmers to serve the craft chocolate market via open supply chain and earn a fair wage for their efforts and expertise.
Baron Hasselhoff's opened their quaint factory shop at 470 Adelaide Road, Wellington, back in 2016. It's there you'll often find their founder and master chocolatier, Clayton McErlane, crafting their magical delights in secret behind smoked glass and dividers. It sure smells amazing in there sometimes! They've since become renowned for their bean-to-bar chocolate, bonbons, truffles and many other delights, and all are made with ethically sourced cacao. These days their reach has grown along with their range, and you can now find Baron Hasselhoff's chocolate in stock at Moore Wilson's supermarkets and other retailers around the country - including us!
