Potomac Chocolate

Potomac Chocolate Semuliki Forest, Uganda 75%

A deep and ultra-smooth dark chocolate with flavour notes of dark cherry and molasses.

Potomac Chocolate is made by Ben Rasmussen in Woodbridge, Virginia. This is Ben’s first new single origin bar since 2018, and the first he’s ever made with cacao from somewhere other than Central or South America. This cacao is fermented and distributed by Latitude Trade Co. (LTC) in the mountainous region of Bundibugyo, Western Uganda. LTC work with over 1000 small-scale organic farmers (half of whom are women), collecting wet cacao beans from six locations in the mountains and centrally fermenting them in the village of Bumate. The cacao trees are intercropped with plantain, avocado, corn, beans, yucca and cassava. The texture of this chocolate is just phenomenal.
