These bars are made from special cacao beans, grown organically on the Vanuatu island of Malekula by two farming communities; The Atchin community with 64 small farming families and Larëvat community with 50 farming families.

Maker

Mike Renfree's interest in chocolate making evolved after a lifetime working as a Chef and Food Technologist. As their website also mentions, "The science-brain met the creative-brain with great gusto, and the secrets of cacao were slowly revealed. What followed was an inspired move to one of those rare communities where anything is possible; The west coast beach town of Raglan, New Zealand." 

Raglan Chocolate was born in 2017, fast becoming a respected and recognisable brand of bean to bar chocolate, made in one of the most idyllic destinations in the North Island of New Zealand. Using local ingredients where possible, and always organic, Mike creates rich chocolate with vivid evocative flavours.

Personal footnote; Raglan's caramel chocolate with nibs 'Nibilicious' should not be missed by those who enjoy caramelised bars.
