How to Put Together a Chocolate Gift Box People Actually Remember
A good chocolate gift box isn’t about quantity — it’s about giving someone a small, well-chosen range they wouldn’t have picked for themselves.
Build a spread, not a stack
Three or four different bars beat eight of the same thing. Aim for a spread across intensity: something approachable (a milk or lower-percentage dark), something bolder (a single-origin dark), and one genuine wildcard — a chilli-infused bar, an unusual origin, or a maker the recipient’s never tried.
Let one bar do the surprising
You don’t need every bar in the box to be adventurous. One well-chosen unexpected bar — paired with a couple of reliably excellent ones — makes the whole box feel curated rather than random.
Presentation matters more than people admit
Craft chocolate already does a lot of the visual work — good makers put real care into their wrapping. A simple box, a short handwritten note about why you picked each bar, and no more fuss than that, usually lands better than anything elaborate.
The easiest rule
If you wouldn’t be excited to receive it yourself, don’t put it in the box. Curate for taste, not for looking impressive.
