Lucid Chocolatier Marańõn, Peru 72%
Lucid Chocolatier Marañón 70% is a celebration of studious dedication to Peruvian cacao. This bar offers up notes of plum, spice and oak.
Featuring cacao from the Marańõn valley in north-west Peru. This is the rare white cacao that motivated Anthony Bourdain and Éric Ripert to head to Peru in search of the elusive and mysterious white Pure Nacional variety beans. Growing at high altitudes up a steep valley by the Marañón river, the bean’s unique terroir and fermentation practices create one of the most sought-after cacao origins in the world, with an unmatched journey of flavour.
Made in the Wairarapa, New Zealand.
Maker
Master Chocolatier Johnty Tatham originally pursued a career as a fine dining pastry chef, but found himself inevitably drawn to making chocolate. After working under Nico Bonnaud at Honest Chocolat, Tatham launched Lucid Chocolatier in December of 2020, offering a stunning range of single origin bars made with the highest quality Peruvian beans available. Shortly after, at the NZ Chocolate Awards 2022, Lucid Chocolatier took the Supreme Winner accolade along with 14 medals including 7 golds.
